# normalize/cfg - "Build" settings for package

#---------------------------------------------------------------------

[technotes]

# 1. Presently, the source tarball that's used for this package is
# very old (it dates back to 2005). However, as of early 2007, it was
# the latest known official version.

#---------------------------------------------------------------------

# 2. Debian was last checked in early 2007. At the time, Debian patch-
# es existed for this package, but they didn't appear to include sig-
# nificant non-Debian changes.

[about]
"normalize" is a tool for adjusting the volume of audio files to a
standard volume level. This is useful for things like creating mix CDs
and MP3 databases, where different recording levels on different al-
bums can cause the volume to vary greatly from song to song.

Note: "mp3gain" is better for MP3s because it's lossless, but lossy
vs. lossless doesn't make much difference if you're just normalizing
temporary files before transferring them to CDs or iPods.
